11,000 BIKES VILLAGE & PARADE
The International Veteran Association (IVCA) Rally & Meeting 2018 was successfully held in Sanur from 12-15 April 2018. Our social enterprise “@East Bali Bamboo Bikes” was proud to participate in the event- the first of its kind to be held in Southeast Asia!
On Saturday and Sunday, we displayed our mountain bikes, city bikes, and tandem bike at the Vintage Bicycle Village jumble sale market which was held at Maisonette Field, Sanur. Minutes after we set up the booth, many people (local and foreign visitors) flocked to our stand, admiring the beauty and uniqueness of our bamboo bikes. The tandem bike was especially popular among the crowd and many people wanted to try riding it around the field.
The highlight of the whole IVCA event was the Denpasar Costume Ride, joined by more than 11,000 vintage-styled bikers. The event was set to break Indonesia’s National Book of Records (MURI) as the biggest vintage bike rally ever held in Indonesia. The 20 km ride circled around Denpasar’s main roads; starting from Grand Inna Bali Beach- Bypass Ngurah Rai-Renon-Hayam Wuruk- back to Grand Inna. Our team members were dressed in sporty clothes and straw hats, successfully grabbing people’s attention during the ride.
The event was closed with Gala dinner, in which our Chairman-Komang Kurniawan was invited to present EBPP works and the history of East Bali Bamboo Bikes. Everyone present was amazed by how our organization had work for almost twenty years to empower people in East Bali.
The whole event was a great experience for our team to promote our bamboo bikes to national and international audiences. All support and encouragement we received during this event has made our team even more passionate in developing this enterprise and creating bigger impact for people in East Bali.
