OUR PROJECT

Our project started in 1998 when the 19 isolated mountain hamlets of Desa Ban in East Bali, then living in abject poverty without water, sanitation, roads, schools, health facilities or electricity, asked EBPP to help by educating their children “so they can lead us to a better future of growth and prosperity”.

Since 1999, we have educated more than 1,500 children in 6 remote community schools, not only in academic subjects but also in bamboo clump management and craft skills to empower them to create sustainable bamboo businesses.

With this in mind, we established our East Bali Bamboo Bikes social enterprise as a launch pad for sustainable social and economic development for the communities that we have helped since 1998.

This is not only about bamboo bikes; it’s all about helping them to help themselves towards a self-sustaining future.
